A few of the site visitors experiencing font size problems are Internet Explorer users who have not upgraded recently.

The NMMIP website is optimized for Internet Explorer browsers version 5 and above (which constitute 90% of the hits on the site), for Netscape browsers version 5 and above (which constitute 1% of the total hits), and for Firefox browsers. Firefox does not encounter this small text situation in any release.

Earlier browser levels than these do cause a situation where the text size appears too small. Ironically, this is due to our use of a certain technique - non-functional in older browsers - that facilitates compliance with accessibility laws for special browsers used by the visually and aurally impaired. Thus, text sizes appear fine except in outdated browsers- those older than the minimum release levels specified above.

If you're certain this is not the problem, these other possible solutions have successfully addressed the situation for some of NMMIP's site visitors:

• For Internet Explorer on a Windows Operating System (88% of NMMIP viewers): Click the "View" pull-down menu and select "text size", then "medium".
   
• For Netscape on a Windows Operating System (1% of NMMIP viewers): Click the "Edit" pull-down menu and select "preferences", then "appearances", then "fonts". Adjust both the "proportional" and "monospace" sizes as you desire.
   
• For Internet Explorer on a Mac OS (<1% of NMMIP viewers): Click on the "View" pull-down menu and select "text zoom", then pick a percentage relative to what you're seeing on the screen initially (thus, a larger percentage to increase the size). NOTE- Mac users with versions of Internet Explorer older than 5 must upgrade to version 5 or later for this technique to be effective.
   
• For Netscape on a Mac OS (1% of NMMIP viewers): Click on the "View" pull-down menu and select "Increase Font Size" as many times as required for your own best legibility.
